Skateshop Day is proud to announce our new partnership with Super Skate Posse. SSD & its 2022 partners plan to celebrate the good work that shops do by teaming up for one community giveback per month beginning with Six Ave Nashville on SSD.
The goal of SuperSkatePosse is to knock down the cost barrier of entry to the mental health benefits of skateboarding for kids in underserved areas. Each month a team of skaters will visit a select shop to give out 100 skateboards/helmets/skate shoes & provide skate lessons in support of the programs the shop & local nonprofit orgs already have in place.
Thank you to our return partners @realskateboards @spitfirewheels @nbnumeric @russellathletic @emerica & @igloocoolers as well as new partners @esskateboarding & @lakailtd for your support of this cause.
Russell Athletic asked, “How can we help skateshops?” immediately after
the first Skateshop Day.
Skateshops are their own brands & what many of them need, above all else, is a source for quality/affordable blanks to print their own private label on. So last summer, our man from Russell shipped 25 shops a dozen SUPPORT tees with each individual shop’s logo screen on them, honoring our belief that every day is skateshop day. For Skateshop Day 2021, Greg doubled that number for the brick crewnecks you see here. This week 50 shops across the U.S. will be receiving 12 of these limited branded pieces. And Russell is already thinking on how they can roll out the program farther & wider for 2022. We’d like to say thank you to all at Russell who made this dream a reality (ever try to find a screen printer that would print only 12 of an item??? 😂) especially Beth Adams & Maggie Leonard.
With only two months until the 2nd annual Skateshop Day, it is our esteemed pleasure to announce our first shoe collaboration with legendary brand, New Balance. New Balance has remained one of the world's most iconic footwear brands since it's humble Boston beginning in 1906. When NB# brought their storied history and technology to skateboarding in 2013, with their Numeric division, a new chapter in skate shoes began. We are both humbled and honored to work with NB# to deliver this very special, limited edition, skateshop exclusive white/burgandy leather 440 (inspired by one of our favorite 90s KCK colorways.). Look for it in select skateshops on February 19th, 2021.

We are beyond stoked to announce Deluxe Distribution as Skate Shop Day’s first official partner. It is with great gratitude that SSD & DLX offer you this one-time, limited special Price Point Shop Keepers Union REAL Deck (with art by Sasha Barr) and Spitfire Formula Four SUPPORT wheel. As well as a “Support” tees courtesy of VANS.
All will be available only at skate shops on February 19th, 2021.
We hope it helps some.
Skate shops have always been the cornerstone of skate communities around the globe. Hard-working skate shop owners have tirelessly helped nurture and grow skateboarding to the massive size it is today. As a skate shop owner in NJ for 18 years, with my partner Steve Lenardo, I know all too well how shitty February can be for many shops. Many of us kiss skaters goodbye at Christmas and hope and pray the beaver falls off the wagon on Ground Hog’s Day, and that winter ends early.
In an attempt to help make the register ring for shops in that window in February, my friend, Scotty Coats, and I created and celebrated, along with many others, the first-ever Skate Shop Day on February 19th, 2020. Skate Shop Day is meant to be the time when the skateboarding community celebrates our cultural hubs. The foundations of every skate scene. The places that bring skaters together and act as the glue for skateboarding as we know it. Skate Shop Day hopes to help get skaters INTO the shops, to Show Love to the unsung heroes that do so much for skating all year round; The men and women that float you a bearing, throw in free grip, and always act as ear or shoulder for any skater.
We appreciate all you do for skateboarding.
Big Love to all of you for your years of service, holding down your skate scene.
Welcome to the Shop Keepers Union.
Happy Skate Shop Day.
